Kirra Surf Life Saving Club

Kirra SLSC is a club that prides itself on its fun family environment where all kids have a fair go. Our goal is to encourage our juniors to have fun and learn how to stay safe on our beautiful beaches as well as to provide the opportunity to train and compete in surf sports. Our ratio of children to age managers is small, so everyone can participate in all activities, every Sunday.

 

The program begins with nippers sign-on and announcements at 08:45am. Activities start at 9:00am.

 

We provide some of the best training for nippers on the Gold Coast with our nippers rotation system. Each age group rotates through four stations, beach, water 1(surf/swim skills), water 2 (boards) and awards & education, in 30 minute blocks.

 

Activities range from body boarding with soft nipper foamies, hard nipper paddle boards, beach sprints, flags, fun games and activities, as well as education on water safety, resuscitation, etc. 

 

Activities finish with a barbecue on the lawn at the front of the club house. U6-U8 age groups finish about 10:45am and all other age groups finish at about 11:00am depending on conditions and levels of enthusiasm.

 

Kirra SLSC has won many patrol awards in recent years which is testament to the level of education our club provides. We have various training sessions available for those who want to do more than the Sunday program. We encourage all to come along to these sessions to further enhance surf skills and experience.
