Nippers - Membership

New Member Sign-Up Guide – Individual Member

Step 1: Go to the SLSA Join Portal
Visit: https://join.sls.com.au using a desktop or tablet for best experience.


Step 2: Search for Your Club
Use the search tool to locate your Surf Life Saving Club.
Click the "Join" button next to the club name.

Step 3: Select 'Individual' Membership
Choose the "Individual" option to create a single membership profile.

​

Step 4: Complete the Online Form
Provide all requested details:
• Full name (as per ID)
• Date of birth
• Residential address
• Mobile phone number and email address
• Emergency contact (name, relationship, phone)
• Any relevant medical conditions (optional but encouraged for safety)
• Choose your membership category (e.g., Active, Associate, Supporter, Award)
• Carefully read and tick the box to accept the Declaration and Code of Conduct

Step 5: Create Members Area Account
After submitting the form, you will be prompted to create an SLS Members Area account. Set your own secure
username and password. This account allows you to:
• Access your membership details
• Complete training and eLearning
• Make payments and renew annually

Step 6: Make Payment
Log in to https://members.sls.com.au. Navigate to "Memberships" > "Make a Payment".
• Select your club from the dropdown list
• Choose your membership category
• Enter the correct fee (confirm with club if unsure)
• Proceed to pay via credit or debit card securely

Step 7: Await Club Review & Approval
Your club administrator will review your application, confirm payment, and approve your membership. You will receive a confirmation email once approved. You are not an active member until approval is complete.

​New Member Sign-Up Guide – Family & Nippers

​

Step 1: Go to Join Portal
Visit: https://join.sls.com.au on a desktop or tablet for best functionality.


Step 2: Search for Your Club
Use the search tool to locate your Surf Life Saving Club.
Click the "Join" button next to the club name.

Step 3: Select 'Family' Membership
Choose "Family" to register multiple family members under one group. This is ideal for parents registering their
children for Nippers and joining as Associate or Active members.


Step 4: Add Each Family Member
For each person:
• Enter full personal details
• Choose role: Nipper, Parent, Age Manager, Water Safety, Associate, etc.
• Emergency contact and medical information


Step 5: Create Members Area Login (Parent/Guardian)
The primary parent or guardian should create a Members Area login to manage the family group.

Step 6: Make Payment
Log in to https://members.sls.com.au → Go to "Make a Payment"
• Select the correct club
• Choose "Family" or individual fees as applicable
• Pay the total amount for all family members securely via card

​

Step 7: Provide Required Documents
• Nippers: Submit proof of age (birth certificate or passport)
• Complete swim proficiency if requested
• Adults assisting on the beach must hold a valid Blue Card (working with children check)

Step 8: Await Club Review & Approval
Your club administrator will review your application, confirm payment, and approve your membership. You will receive a confirmation email once approved. You are not an active member until approval is complete.

Did you know Qld Play On Sports vouchers  can be used towards club membership fees for 5-17 year olds.
If using a voucher please contact the office for any membership balance that may be due and then forward  voucher to kirra@kirraslsc.com

Nippers Membership Requirements

  • At least one parent/guardian must join as a member for a child to join nippers, if you do not hold a Bronze or SRC you will need to join as an Associate.  We encourage both parents to join the club however at least one parent per family must join the surf life saving club and accompany their child on the beach during nipper sessions.  How to join

  • All Green Cap Nippers require at least one parent/guardian in the water up to their childs' knees, during water activities.

  • The annual pool swim evaluation is a require­ment of Surf Life Sav­ing Aus­tralia. Each season prior to par­tic­i­pa­ting in any junior activ­ity, ALL junior mem­bers (nippers) must com­plete a pro­fi­ciency swim assessment at a pool. Proficiency also assists in the man­age­ment of junior activities. Nippers can do their proficiency pool swim at either a pool sign-on day, which their own swim coach (if they have lessons) or at your local pool.  Please contact the pool first to arrange a suitable time.  If you are arranging pool swim yourself, please use this form - Pool Evaluation For

Age Groups

The minimum age for Nippers is 5 years (U6) up to a maximum age of 13 years (U14) on a seasonal basis.

 

Age for each season is determined at midnight on 30th September, at the commencement of the season. For example, a member who is 11 years on 20th September registers as an U12 for the season.

​

11 years on 01st October registers as an U11 for the season.

 

Age groups are U6-U8, U9-U10, U11-U12 to U13-14.
