Welcome to Kirra SLSC

Established in 1916, Kirra Surf Life Saving Club is proud to be the second oldest surf lifesaving club in Queensland. Our origins are rooted in a tragic event on January 6th of that year, when two friends swimming on an unpatrolled beach faced difficulty, resulting in one of them drowning. This heartbreaking incident prompted the local community to take action, leading to the formation of our club on January 7th, 1916.

Our Mission

Our mission is to protect and serve the public at Kirra Beach and its surrounding areas. We are dedicated to safeguarding lives, ensuring safety, and preventing incidents through proactive and modern lifesaving practices, driven by vigilance and service.

Celebrating Our Achievements

We are thrilled to share that our Kirra IRB (Inflatable Rescue Boat) Team has achieved remarkable success, becoming the Australian Open IRB Champions in 2024. Additionally, we are proud to announce that ten of our dedicated team members have been selected for the Australian IRB Team. These accomplishments reflect the hard work, dedication, and excellence of our members, underscoring our club's commitment to lifesaving and competitive success.

There are numerous ways to contribute to our surf lifesaving community. Whether you choose to take an active role or support our efforts in other capacities, your involvement helps us grow and develop as a club. Join us in our mission to keep our beaches safe for everyone.
