Welcome to Kirra SLSC

Kirra Surf Life Saving Club is the second oldest club in Queensland and owes its beginnings to a tragedy that occured on 6th January, 1916.

On that day two friends went swimming on the unpatrolled beach and immediately got into trouble. Sadly, one of the friends drowned. The local community acted swiftly and a public meeting was called on 7th January, 1916 where it was decided that the Kirra Surf Life Saving Club be formed.

Mission Statement

“To serve the bathing public of Kirra beach and its surrounding areas by protecting life, preserving safety and preventing incidents by proactive and contemporary lifesaving practices through vigilance and service.”

There are many ways to be involved in surf life saving. Whether you contribute by taking an active role or a support role, there are many types of positions available where you can help grow and develop our club and its members as we all work to keep the public and our beaches safe.
